About Joel
Scientist, Entrepreneur, and Consultant
My expertise sits at the intersection of in vivo cell therapy, immunology, and translational medicine.
I completed my PhD in Dr. Jonathan Epstein’s laboratory at Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine. I then joined Dr. Marcus Buggert as a postdoctoral fellow at the Karolinska Institutet, investigating tissue-level human immunology.
My research focuses on engineering the next generation of immunotherapies to treat heart failure, fibrosis, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. I strive to build advanced therapies that are not only safe and effective, but broadly accessible to the patients who need them.
As a consultant, I help companies turn promising biological insights into transformative medicines.
Outside of the lab, I’m an avid birdwatcher, aspiring chef, and devoted husband and cat dad.
